Why UNIT-1 Exists

jieun cha, co-founder

I didn’t build UNIT-1 because I loved towing.
I built it because I didn’t.

I had never towed a trailer before.

and to be honest, I didn’t want to.
When I looked at the trailers on the market, all I could feel was stress.

The weight dragging behind the car.
The harsh, clunky ride from heavy steel frames and basic suspensions.
Wooden structures that make you worry every time it rains.

And finishes that dent easily, where one small mistake leaves a mark that never really disappears.

Towing didn’t feel freeing.
It felt like something that demanded constant attention and constant caution.

And then there was another truth I couldn’t ignore.

I know myself.

People make mistakes.
I definitely do.

I bump into things. I misjudge distances.
I’ve got scars on my legs to prove it.

So I asked myself honestly:
If I towed a small trailer, would I be careful every single time?

Probably not.

And if one small mistake meant dents, damage, or something permanently broken, I knew I’d start resenting the trailer almost immediately.

So I asked a different question.

What if a trailer could take bumps, scrapes, and small mistakes?
and instead of becoming something you feared damaging,
it became something you trusted more the longer you used it?

That question became UNIT-1.

Built for real use, Not Perfection

UNIT-1 wasn’t designed to stay perfect.

It was designed to reduce stress.

An aluminum tube frame.
A marine-grade HDPE cabin.

Materials chosen not just for how they look,
but for how they behave when real life happens.

No rust, No rot, No mold, No delamination.

A trailer you don’t have to baby.
A trailer that doesn’t make your shoulders tense every time you tow.

Less Fear.
More Freedom.

UNIT-1 is small by design.

not to feel limiting, but to feel manageable.

It’s for people who want to camp, explore, and get outside
without feeling like they’re responsible for protecting something fragile behind them.

The goal was never to build the toughest trailer in the world.
The goal was to build one that makes towing feel lighter, mentally and physically.

Because when the stress goes away,
what’s left is the reason you wanted to camp in the first place.

That’s what UNIT-1 is.
